Free Sick of the Mew.

1) Nine Inch Nails is starting their tour this summer with Jane's Addiction and the Street Sweepers, and emailed me some free samples. I'm not a fan of any of those bands, but everyone loves free music, amirite: http://www.ninja2009.com/
"Not So Pretty Now" is prolly the only song worth keeping. /headbob

2) Pity I didn't discover this two years ago, but there is a wikipedia of sheet music! That is, all classical music that is within the public domain. Public domain, as in the music's copyright persists for the composer for 50 years after their death. You'll find mostly classical music that has been composed from around 1959 and before, though a lot of French works are missing (Drat, no Clair de Lune for me! /sob/). The greatest thing about the sheet music is that most of them are TERRIFIC editions, namely German publishers, so you won't have to worry about crappy editing or revising.
If you think about it, with http://imslp.org/wiki/Main_Page , all we're paying for from the music store is just paper and binding!

sporks

hardcore
Sporks are one of the most innovative innovations since the dawn of man, evolving from numerous mutations and through the process of natural selection has it
become so superior to other utensils. But you already know all this so...

THE TECHNOLOGY OF A SPORK.

As seen above is the Dorsal view, which consists of the following:

* Cranial Fossa - Large depression which spans the cranium. In native habitats, this area is used to hold food for transportation
* Rostral Processes - These projections extend from the cranium and act functionally as teeth, used to impale foods.
* Canines - Sharp, cranial projections also known as tines which are used to impale foods.
* Cranial Ridge - Ridge that makes up the lateral margins of the cranium
* Neck - The tapering, most anterior portion of the trunk.
* Dorsal Carina - Ridge that extends dorsally along the entire surface of the trunk.
* Platysmal surfaces - Flat surfaces on either side of the dorsal carina.
* Cercus - The posterior tip of the trunk.

The above is the ventral view, which consists of the following:

Ventral View

* Hypocercal Ridge - Ridge that begins at the lateral edge of the cranium and extends down the trunk to the cercus.
* Cranial Clefts - Short structural supports that adds stability to the neck, allowing greater pressure to be placed on the cranium.
* Cranial Groove - Continuation of the cercal groove extending up the neck to the cranium.
* Cranial Condyle - Knob projecting from the base of the cranium.
* Transcervical Clefts - Cross-hatching structural supports that prevent torsion of the neck, adding essential stability to T. athenius.
* Thoracic Condyle - Knob projecting from the most anterior portion of the trunk.
* Cercal Groove - The underside of the dorsal carina, extends the entire length of the trunk.
* Cercal Condyle - Knob projecting from the most posterior portion of the cercus.

Through a long process of evolution these phenotypes have formed. Sporks have many species as well, ranging from hard plastic and soft plastic to titanium, aluminum, and stainless steel. Some exotic species can be seen in Asia with a deeper cranial fossa. Over time the spork has become a more efficient, versatile, and durable utensil than any other.

I am /breathing/

It's been a long time since I actually "blogged".
Ho hum.
Why not now.

As with the last two years, my life has been and still is revolving over music. (Of course it's revolving around Jesus, but in the sense of my worldly life, that is.)

I've been finishing up the first movement of Mendelssohn's concerto and starting Presto from Bach's Sonata No. 1. My current short-term goal is to at least get a place in the VOCE competition I'm in, though I'm against with copious good violinists my age. In Feb., I tied with the only other kid in my age group at the branch auditions, because I was more "precise", but the other dude was more of a "natural". Oh, that darn musicality aspect. I do hope I find it (or at least grasp it) before the statewide competition, whish is looming ahead in 3 weeksAAHHHHH-

Chamber music- It's fascinating how it's like an orchestra with various instruments, but each one is a soloist. I attended a Masterclass for senior chamber groups a few weeks ago (with Anon <: ), which was a first for me. A masterclass is generally a performance class in which a soloist/musical group plays for an epic teacher, and the teacher teaches them how to win more. The one I went to was by John Perry, who was not as interesting as his vibrant bio. on the program sheet.

Since I get this question asked alot, my pianoing is still inching along. Actually, it's millimetering along. I'm on John Thompson's Piano Course Book TWO now! WOOOTWOOOOT.

No.

...In my non-musical life, I am anxious how high school would look like. Wait, but that's still music-related since I have to plan out my high school schedule according to my violining needs. E.g., I am hopefully going to cut out 6th (or better yet 5th) period and come home early before the school day's over. Why? Because I need more time to practice, duhh.
The conflict is more at what classes I'm going to cut, rather than how I'm going to do it (a nice chat w/ the counselor should suffice). P.E. can be definite, or maybe math or science. I love math and science, but unfortunately the value of those are null in music. And how in the world am I going to graduate high school? Will I even be able to stay in orchestra? Is it even worth it participating in their orchestra? What period is orch. anyways. Would I have to take year-long courses over the summer? Am I going to be able to have a life duing high school? How to shot web?!
asdfghjkl;'

Anyways, my new obsessions are Debussy and Pink Floyd.
Debussy, for his splashes of Impressionism, and Pink Floyd for- well, I've been obssessed with them for a while.
But the common factor with both of them, (lol rock and Romantic), is that they really don't have a structural music form. Debussy is know for his harmonies, rather than melodies, abeit his Impressionistic ideas. Pink Floyd is similar; you listen to them not for the song, but the sounds. And oh, what wonderful sounds.

Play him off, keyboard cat.

I don't believe it.

THE POLL IS TIED!

TIED!

Time to confess how many times you voted.

I voted 8 times. Three for myself, two for Kathleen, twice for Anonymous, once for cable.

Not much harder...

Twitter

That's right, copious amounts of boredom has led me to introduce a Twitter feed to the Jazznkat.
If the other authors want, I can tinker with it and let us collectively post into that Twitter feed. (I REFUSE TO SAY TWEET)

i hate this so much.

Equation for doing well in Mr. McCulley's Class?

After talking to Cherry over Gmail, I realized something:

f(x)=5x^3

Let x= attention paid during Mr. McCulley's amazingly thorough lessons.

Let f(x)= overall success in math class.

Very simple equation. It's like studying doesn't even matter in his class!

Orchestras in In Concert

I have to say that I was very much disappointed in our most recent orchestral performance.

But let us start with the positive remarks:

1. We started in-sync at the beginnings of the Bach Chorale.
2. Really, there's not much else.

And now for the not-so-bright side:

1. Much of the Vivaldi was off-beat. Please watch our lovely conductor next time. >_>
2. Drowning out the soloists in Vivaldi. DYNAMICS, folks, DYNAMICS!!
3. I totally screwed up on changing the effects for Queen. As well as some intonation for my high notes. gahhhh /bangs head/

4. The endings of the Bach were not so smooth. Once again, watch the director.

Call me critical, but criticism leads to improvement.

Frontier Day 09

Frontier Day was awesome!

And Harris&Despard were right;

The more you participated, the more enjoyable it was.

The day started off w/ square dancing (which shouldn’t be considered dancing anyways) along with some CHA CHA SLIDE, CHICKENING, YMCA (ahem DISCO), and the HOKEY POKEY (also which I haven't done since kindergarten). I think we all looked pretty dorky, but nobody cared. [:

Heh.

The donut eating contest was hilarious.

Many didn’t have a strategy.

OMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

The seemingly best approach was to bite the donut off the string and eat the remnants on the table.

Berger did it.

Julian’s strategy was quite umm. Interesting. Not to mention extremely suggestive.

The arm wrestling was more intense.

Hah, Spaz lost.

And Brian won.

I think Young was exaggerating.

The frog-jumping was just as intense, and yielded more response from specators.

Gulton won the finals for McCulley. Pooh.

The rest of the day amounted to "Western" activities.
Devin and I won in a 3-legged race; Spaz, Anon, Devin and I miserably phailed sprinting along a brief dirt path with a backpack, straw hat, and a ridiculously soft horse head attached to a stick; I got 1 point in the horseshoe toss; group jump-roping was actually fun; and I finally used a "slapstick" to spin one of those wheel-like contraptions you see in the history books all the time! :D

In other news...

ROFL, Warren's COUGH DROP ENTERPRISES (inside joke)

"There's even some hair sticking to it!!"

And Washburn's a hillbilly!
